Cupra Tavascan airbag control unit repair(1)

What should I know about Cupra Tavascan airbag control units?

The airbag control unit in the Cupra Tavascan evaluates the crash sensors, triggers the airbags and seat belt pretensioners, and monitors the entire airbag system. If it detects a fault, the airbag warning light in the vehicle comes on.

In an emergency, the control unit must reliably coordinate the deployment of the airbags. It is therefore a safety-relevant component, and a fault should be checked by a specialist workshop.

After an accident, the control unit stores crash data and locks itself. A defect then affects the function of the entire airbag system. Airbag24 repairs the control unit you send in at our workshop in Berlin: the crash data is deleted, and the unit is checked and repaired. Whether a unit can be repaired only becomes clear during the inspection.

Which Cupra Tavascan generations are there?

The Cupra Tavascan has been built as the 1st generation since 2024, and production is still ongoing. No earlier generation of this model exists so far.

Control units within the 1st generation can differ depending on model year and equipment, so precise assignment is essential.

How do I identify my Cupra Tavascan airbag control unit?

The part number on the label of the control unit determines the exact version. Also note the model year and equipment of your vehicle, as they help with the assignment.

The part number is usually printed directly on the control unit housing. It specifies the exact version and is therefore the most important point of reference. The vehicle identification number (VIN) also helps determine the correct variant.

Typical fault codes are 00595 (crash data stored), 01226 (crash data stored for the driver's side, side airbag) and U0151 (loss of communication with the airbag control unit). A single code does not prove a defect on its own. Only testing shows whether the control unit is actually affected.

What airbag equipment does the Cupra Tavascan have?

The Cupra Tavascan comes as standard with front, side and curtain airbags, plus a centre airbag between the front seats. The exact equipment depends on market and trim level.

The front airbags protect driver and front passenger in a frontal collision. Side and curtain airbags protect chest and head in a side impact. The centre airbag is designed to give front-seat occupants additional protection in a side impact.

Which airbags are actually fitted in your vehicle depends on market and trim level. The equipment of your vehicle can be checked using the vehicle identification number (VIN).

If the airbag warning light comes on, have the fault memory read first. The battery should be disconnected before removal, and a specialist workshop should carry out the removal, as the airbag system is safety-relevant. You then create a repair order online and send in the control unit. Processing usually takes 3–4 working days (checking, repairing, testing).

The repaired control unit returns with all vehicle data and is ready for use as soon as it is refitted — coding or programming is not necessary.
