Genesis G70 airbag control unit repair(1)

1 product

What should you note about Genesis G70 airbag control units?

The Genesis G70 airbag control unit evaluates the signals from the crash sensors, triggers the airbags and belt tensioners, and monitors the entire system. If it detects a fault, the airbag warning light comes on. After an accident, the control unit stores crash data and locks itself.

The control unit is the central unit of the system. In an emergency, it decides whether and how the airbags and belt tensioners are triggered. A defective control unit can mean that the airbag system no longer works fully. For this reason, a lit airbag warning light should always be checked by a specialist.

After a deployment, for example in a frontal impact, the crash data remains in the memory of the control unit. Airbag24 repairs your own control unit and deletes the crash data during the repair. You should not work on the airbag system yourself; have it handled by a specialist workshop instead.

Which Genesis G70 generations are there?

For the Genesis G70 we list the IK series, which has been built since 2021 and is still in production. You can check whether your vehicle belongs to it by its year of manufacture and vehicle identification number (VIN).

  • IK (since 2021): current series of the G70.

Which version is fitted in your vehicle is shown by the part number on the control unit. More on this in the next section.

How do I identify my Genesis G70 airbag control unit?

The part number on the label of the control unit determines the exact version. In addition, check the year of manufacture and the vehicle identification number (VIN) of your Genesis G70, as equipment can vary by model year.

Known part numbers for this series, without any claim to completeness:

  • 95910-G9300

A fault code in the fault memory is an indication, but on its own it does not prove a defect. Examples from our records are B1620 for an internal fault in the control unit, B1650 for stored crash data with first-stage deployment in a frontal impact, and B1102 for a supply voltage of the airbag system that is too low.

What airbag equipment does the Genesis G70 have?

The Genesis G70 has a comprehensive airbag system that, depending on the version, includes front, side and head airbags. Which airbags are fitted as standard in your vehicle depends on the market and trim level.

Depending on the version, the equipment can include airbags for driver and front passenger, side airbags, head airbags for both rows of seats and a knee airbag on the driver's side. The equipment data for your model year and vehicle identification number (VIN) shows which components your vehicle has.

The repair process works as follows: have the fault memory read out to narrow down the cause. Disconnect the battery before removing the control unit. Removal is a safety-relevant step; if you are unsure, have it carried out by a specialist workshop. Create a repair order online and send the removed control unit, well packed, to Airbag24. The repair takes place in our workshop in Berlin and usually takes 3–4 working days (checking, repairing, testing).

The repaired control unit returns with all vehicle data and is ready for use as soon as it is refitted: no coding or programming is required.
