Jaecoo 5 airbag control unit repair(1)

What should be considered with Jaecoo 5 airbag control units?
The airbag control unit in the Jaecoo 5 evaluates the crash sensors, triggers the airbags and seat belt pretensioners in an accident, and monitors the entire system. If it detects a fault, the airbag warning light comes on. Airbag24 repairs the control unit you send in.
After an accident, the control unit stores crash data and locks itself. Typical causes of a defect are ageing electronics, overvoltage, for example from battery problems, corrosion on plugs and contacts, and communication faults on the CAN bus.
The airbag system is safety-relevant, so work on it belongs in the hands of a qualified workshop. Please have a lit airbag warning light checked promptly.
Which Jaecoo 5 generations are there?
The Jaecoo 5 is listed here as the 1st generation, which has been built since 2025 and is still in production. You can tell which generation your vehicle belongs to from its year of manufacture and its vehicle identification number (VIN).
We do not currently list further generations for this model. If in doubt, the part number on the control unit and the year of manufacture will help.

How do I identify my Jaecoo 5 airbag control unit?
The part number on the label of the control unit determines the exact version. In addition, the year of manufacture and equipment of your Jaecoo 5 matter, because they determine which variant is fitted.
The part number is therefore the most important clue. Note it and the vehicle identification number (VIN) before the control unit is removed. Include both details with your repair order so that the assignment is unambiguous.
A fault code on its own does not prove a defect in the control unit. Only an inspection shows whether the unit is affected and whether the damage can be repaired.
What airbag equipment does the Jaecoo 5 have?
According to German equipment information, the Jaecoo 5 comes as standard with seven airbags: front and side airbags at the front, curtain airbags at the front and rear, and a centre airbag between the front seats. The scope and number can vary by market and trim level.
Standard equipment also includes driver assistance systems such as autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane assist and adaptive cruise control. The airbag control unit coordinates the triggering of the airbags; if it fails, the entire airbag system can be affected.
The route to repair runs through a specialist workshop, which reads out the fault memory, disconnects the battery and removes the control unit. You then create a repair order online and send the unit to Airbag24 by parcel. Processing usually takes 3–4 working days (checking, repairing, testing).
The repaired control unit comes back with all vehicle data and is ready for use immediately after reinstallation — no coding or programming is needed.
