MG 4 airbag control unit repair(1)
1 product

What should I pay attention to with MG 4 airbag control units?
The airbag control unit in the MG 4 evaluates the crash sensors, triggers the airbags and monitors the entire restraint system. If it detects a fault, the airbag warning light comes on. Airbag24 repairs the control unit of your own vehicle that you send in.
In an accident, the control unit triggers the airbags and belt tensioners. It then stores crash data and locks itself. Airbag24 deletes this crash data and repairs the control unit.
The airbag system is safety-critical. Work on it should be left to a specialist workshop. A fault in the control unit can impair the function of the entire airbag system.
Which MG 4 generations are there?
The MG 4 has been built in its first generation since 2022. You can tell whether your vehicle belongs to it from the year of manufacture and the vehicle identification number (VIN).
The MG 4 is a fully electric hatchback. Equipment and electronics can differ between model years within the production period. The part number on the control unit is therefore an important point of reference.
- 1st generation (since 2022) – production is ongoing
How do I identify my MG 4 airbag control unit?
The part number on the label of the control unit determines the exact version. Also check the year of manufacture and the equipment of your vehicle.
The label shows the part number. The list below gives part numbers known to us for this model, without any claim to completeness:
- 110406240/01
An error code alone does not prove a fault. As examples from the fault memory of this control unit, we list:
- B1932: front deployment data stored (crash data in the control unit)
- U0151: communication with the airbag control unit lost
- B0001: driver front airbag stage 1, squib circuit faulty
- B0090: left front crash sensor faulty
What airbag equipment does the MG 4 have?
The MG 4 comes as standard with front, side and head airbags. The exact number may vary depending on the variant and trim level.
According to the safety assessment of the model from 2022, front airbags for driver and front passenger are standard. In addition, there are side airbags for chest and pelvis at the front, and side head airbags that also protect the rear seats.
Knee airbags and centre airbags are not listed in this assessment. You can find your vehicle's equipment in the vehicle documents.
The route to repair: have the fault memory read out, disconnect the battery and have a specialist workshop remove the control unit. Then create a repair order online and send the removed control unit, well packed, to Airbag24. Processing usually takes 3–4 working days: checking, repairing and testing.
The repaired control unit comes back with all vehicle data and is ready for use as soon as it is refitted — no coding or programming is required.
