MG ZT airbag control unit repair(1)
1 product

What should be considered with MG ZT airbag control units?
The MG ZT airbag control unit evaluates the crash sensors, triggers the airbags and belt tensioners in an accident, monitors the system and reports faults via the airbag warning light. After an accident, it stores crash data and locks itself.
The airbag system is safety-relevant. If you do not want to remove the control unit yourself, have a specialist workshop carry out the removal.
Airbag24 repairs the submitted control unit from your own vehicle. Our service covers the fault check, the repair and the erasure of crash data. Whether a particular unit can be repaired is only shown by the inspection in our workshop.
Which MG ZT generations are there?
Our airbag range lists one series for the MG ZT: RJ, built from 2001 to 2005. The series designation helps with assignment, but it does not replace checking the part number.
The MG ZT was built in the RJ series from 2001 to 2005. The overview names the series with its build period:
- RJ (2001–2005) – the MG ZT series in our range, built from 2001 to 2005.
Equipment can differ within one build period. Do not rely on the year of manufacture alone; also check the part number on the control unit.
How do I identify my MG ZT airbag control unit?
The part number on the label of the control unit determines the exact version. Also check the year of manufacture and the vehicle identification number (VIN) before you send in a unit.
You will find the part number on the label of the control unit. For the MG ZT, the following part numbers are listed in our range, without claim to completeness:
- YWC107090
- YWJ000220
- YWJ101590
Fault codes such as B1932 (crash data stored in the control unit), U0151 (communication with the airbag control unit lost) or B0001 (ignition circuit of the driver's front airbag disturbed) can point to a problem. A single code does not yet prove a fault. Only the inspection shows the cause.
What airbag equipment does the MG ZT have?
According to technical vehicle data, the MG ZT came as standard from 2001 with a driver and a front passenger airbag as well as front side airbags. Which further airbags are fitted depends on the model year and trim level.
Technical vehicle data does not list a driver knee airbag for the MG ZT. The fault codes of the series concern, among others, the driver and front passenger airbags and the frontal crash sensors on the left and right.
If the airbag warning light is on, or crash data in the control unit is suspected after an accident, proceed as follows: have the fault memory read out. Disconnect the battery, then remove the control unit. Then create a repair request online and send in the unit. Processing normally takes 3–4 working days (inspection, repair, testing). The repair is carried out in our workshop in Berlin. The repaired control unit comes back with all vehicle data and is ready for use immediately after reinstallation — coding or programming is not necessary.
