Omoda 9 airbag control unit repair

Omoda 9 airbag control unit repair(1)

What should you know about Omoda 9 airbag control units?

The airbag control unit in the Omoda 9 evaluates the crash sensors, triggers the airbags and belt tensioners, and monitors the entire airbag system. If it reports a fault, the airbag warning light in the instrument cluster lights up. Airbag24 repairs your own control unit when you send it in.

After an accident, the control unit stores crash data and locks itself. Whether it still works reliably afterwards can only be established by checking the fault memory.

A defective control unit can impair the function of the entire airbag system. As airbags are safety-relevant, work on the system should only be carried out by a specialist workshop. The repair takes place at our workshop in Berlin.

Which Omoda 9 generations are there?

The Omoda 9 is currently built in its 1st generation, whose production run is still ongoing. You can check whether your vehicle belongs to it using the year of manufacture and the vehicle identification number (VIN).

The information on this page refers to this series:

  • 1st generation (since 2025) – the current model series of the Omoda 9; production is still ongoing.

Even within one generation, versions can differ depending on year of manufacture and equipment.

How do I identify my Omoda 9 airbag control unit?

The part number on the control unit's label determines the exact version. Also take the year of manufacture and equipment of your vehicle into account. Together, these details show which control unit fits your vehicle.

Note the part number before removal and keep the vehicle identification number (VIN) to hand. Both details help with assigning the unit and with the repair.

The fault memory may contain codes, for example:

  • B127F47: crash recording locked
  • U0151: communication with the restraint system control unit lost
  • B0001: driver front airbag stage 1, ignition circuit open

A single fault code does not prove a defect. Only testing shows whether a repair is needed and what it involves.

Which airbag equipment does the Omoda 9 have?

The Omoda 9 comes with several airbags as standard, including front, side and head airbags. How many airbags a vehicle has, and where they are fitted, depends on the equipment and the market.

According to the independent crash assessment from 2025, the tested vehicle has the following as standard: front airbags for driver and front passenger, side airbags with chest and pelvis protection at the front, side head airbags at the front and rear, a driver knee airbag and a centre airbag between the front seats.

Equipment can differ by market and version. What counts is the actual equipment of your vehicle.

The repair process works as follows: have the fault memory read, disconnect the battery and remove the control unit, ideally with the support of a specialist workshop. Then create a repair order online and send in the unit. Processing usually takes 3–4 working days: checking, repairing and testing.

The repaired control unit comes back with all vehicle data and is ready for use as soon as it is refitted — no coding or programming is required.
