Omoda airbag control unit repair(4)
What should I consider with Omoda airbag control units?
On an Omoda, a permanently lit airbag warning light, a fault memory entry or an accident with stored crash data usually points to the airbag control unit. Repairing the control unit in a specialist workshop is then often possible without replacing it.
Omoda is a brand of the Chinese manufacturer Chery and is still fairly new here. The vehicles are correspondingly young, yet airbag control units can still fail, for example through electronic faults, moisture at the connectors or overvoltage. After an accident the control unit also stores crash data, which must be erased before the unit is used again.
The airbag control unit is safety-relevant. Have diagnosis and repair carried out by a specialist workshop only, and do not work on the airbag system yourself. We repair your removed airbag control unit in our workshop in Berlin; you send it in by parcel.
Which Omoda models are there?
For Omoda, our shop currently covers the Omoda 5. No other models have been set up in the shop yet.
- Omoda 5 (C5 series, from 2023)
The Omoda brand belongs to Chery and first reached our continent via Spain. The Omoda 5 belongs to the C5 series and has been built since 2023. As the brand is young, the model range is still manageable. If you drive a different Omoda model, please ask us before sending anything in.
How do I identify my Omoda airbag control unit?
You can recognise an Omoda airbag control unit by the part number on the unit's label. Together with the year of manufacture and the vehicle identification number (VIN), this lets us determine the matching variant.
The control unit is usually located inside the passenger compartment, often around the centre console. The exact location can differ by model and year. The part number is on the sticker on the housing and can only be read once the unit has been removed.
A fault code also helps with classification. According to our research, these codes often appear on Omoda models: B127F47 (crash recording locked), B127247 (left-side crash recorded), U0151 (communication with the restraint system control unit lost) and B0001 (driver front airbag stage 1, ignition circuit open). The code alone does not replace a diagnosis in the workshop.
What airbag equipment does Omoda have?
Which airbags are fitted in your Omoda depends on the market, model year and trim level. In current vehicles, front airbags for the driver and front passenger are usual, plus side and curtain airbags depending on equipment.
The airbag control unit evaluates the signals from the crash sensors and, in an emergency, triggers the appropriate airbags and belt tensioners. If it does not work, deployment may be impaired. You should therefore not ignore a lit airbag warning light.
The repaired control unit comes back with all vehicle data and is ready for use immediately after refitting.
