Omoda E5 airbag control unit repair

Omoda E5 airbag control unit repair(1)

What should be noted about Omoda E5 airbag control units?

The airbag control unit of the Omoda E5 evaluates the crash sensors, triggers the airbags and seat belt pretensioners, and reports faults via the airbag warning light. After an accident, it stores crash data and locks itself. Airbag24 repairs your own control unit.

A defective control unit can impair the entire airbag function. A fault in the control unit can also switch on the warning light without an accident. As the system is safety-relevant, please leave any work on it to a specialist workshop.

Typical causes include an accident with stored crash data, ageing electronics, voltage fluctuations in the vehicle electrical system or moisture on the connectors. Whether a unit can be repaired only becomes clear after testing in our workshop in Berlin.

Which Omoda E5 generations are there?

The Omoda E5 is so far listed as one generation: the 1st generation. It has been built since 2024 and is not yet discontinued.

The 1st generation has been available in Europe since 2024. Within a generation, software version, equipment and airbag scope can change, so the model year alone is not enough to assign a control unit.

  • 1st generation (since 2024) – the current model series, still in production.

For a reliable assignment, the part number on the control unit therefore counts, not the generation alone.

How do I identify my Omoda E5 airbag control unit?

The part number on the label of the control unit determines the exact version. Together with the model year and the vehicle identification number (VIN) of your car, the unit can be assigned clearly.

Before sending the unit in, note the vehicle identification number (VIN), the model year and the part number. If you have questions about the assignment, we are happy to help.

An error code in the fault memory is an indication, but on its own it does not prove a defect. Examples of codes for this model are B127F47 (crash memory locked), B127247 (crash recorded on the left side), U0151 (communication with the restraint system control unit lost) and B0001 (driver front airbag stage 1, igniter circuit open).

Which airbag equipment does the Omoda E5 have?

According to road tests, front, side and curtain airbags as well as a centre airbag between the front seats are standard equipment on the Omoda E5. The number of airbags depends on the trim level and the market.

The airbag control unit drives these airbags. It evaluates the sensor data and decides which airbags are triggered in a crash.

The repair works as follows: first have the fault memory read out. Then disconnect the battery and carefully remove the control unit, ideally with help from a workshop. Create a repair order online and send the unit to Airbag24. Processing usually takes 3–4 working days for checking, repair and testing.

The repaired control unit returns with all vehicle data and is ready for use immediately after reinstallation — no coding or programming is required.
