Polestar 4 airbag control unit repair(1)

What should be considered with Polestar 4 airbag control units?
The airbag control unit of the Polestar 4 evaluates the crash sensors, triggers the airbags and belt tensioners, and monitors the entire restraint system. If the system detects a fault, the airbag warning light comes on. Airbag24 repairs your own Polestar 4 airbag control unit at its workshop in Berlin.
After an accident, the control unit stores crash data and locks itself. Even without an accident, a defective control unit can impair the function of the entire airbag system. A permanently lit airbag warning light should therefore be checked promptly.
During the repair, Airbag24 deletes the crash data and checks the unit for faults. The airbag system is safety-relevant: have the work carried out by a specialist workshop and do not work on the airbag system yourself.
Which Polestar 4 generations are there?
Airbag24 lists the Polestar 4 as one generation: the 1st generation, in production since 2024. For this model we currently list only this one generation.
The Polestar 4 is a pure electric vehicle. Its high-voltage battery disconnect loop is part of the airbag triggering, so a fault there can appear as a separate fault code.
- 1st generation (since 2024) – the current series of the Polestar 4, for which Airbag24 offers repairs.
How do I identify my Polestar 4 airbag control unit?
The part number on the label of the control unit determines the exact version. Together with the model year and equipment of your vehicle, it allows the correct unit to be identified clearly.
You will find the part number on the label of the control unit. Also have the vehicle identification number (VIN) and the model year ready, as both details help with the assignment.
A fault code alone does not prove a defect. Examples are the code U0151 (communication with the airbag control unit lost) and the code B15381B (high-voltage battery disconnect loop of the airbag triggering open or resistance too high). Only an inspection shows whether the control unit is actually defective.
What airbag equipment does the Polestar 4 have?
The Polestar 4 has front airbags for the front seats, side airbags built into the seats and head-shoulder airbags in the roof lining that protect people at the windows. The exact number and layout depend on model year and equipment.
The front airbags protect the people in the front seats in a frontal impact. The side airbags are integrated into the seats and protect in a side impact. The head-shoulder airbags in the roof lining protect people seated at the windows. In a crash, the control unit coordinates these airbags.
The repair process works as follows: have the fault memory read by a specialist workshop. There the battery is disconnected and the control unit removed. Then create a repair order online and send the unit, well packed, to Airbag24. Processing usually takes 3–4 working days (checking, repairing, testing).
The repaired control unit comes back with all vehicle data and is ready for use as soon as it is refitted; no coding or programming is necessary.
