Xpeng airbag control unit repair(8)

Is the airbag warning light on in your Xpeng? Choose your model, remove the control unit and send it to us for testing and repair.

What should I consider with Xpeng airbag control units?

With an Xpeng airbag control unit, exact matching to model and year of manufacture matters. We repair defective control units by mail-in service at our workshop in Berlin and also erase any stored crash data.

Xpeng is a Chinese manufacturer of electric cars based in Guangzhou. After first deliveries to Norway in 2021, the brand has offered its vehicles in further countries since 2023. The airbag control unit evaluates the signals from the crash sensors and decides which airbags and belt pretensioners deploy in an emergency.

Typical reasons for a repair are an illuminated airbag warning light, a defective control unit, or an accident after which crash data is stored in the unit and locks it.

The airbag system is safety-critical. Have testing and removal carried out only by a specialist workshop and do not work on the system yourself. The repaired control unit comes back with all vehicle data and is ready for use immediately after refitting.

Which Xpeng models are there?

Xpeng builds electric vehicles, and our shop pages list them by model series. Select your series to find the matching control unit.

Depending on the model, the series range from 2020 to 2025. Different control units may be fitted per series and model year, so matching by part number and VIN is important.

The shop sets up pages for these model ranges:

  • Xpeng P7 (2021–2025)
  • Xpeng G3 (2020–2022)
  • Xpeng P5 (2022–2024)

How do I identify my Xpeng airbag control unit?

The part number is usually on the label on the control unit. Together with the model year and the vehicle identification number (VIN), it identifies the unit unambiguously.

The airbag warning light is often the first sign. The fault memory then contains entries such as B16201B (driver airbag front firing circuit: resistance too high, for example due to a contact problem in the seat wiring harness), U0151 (communication with the airbag control unit lost), and B0001 and B0002 (driver airbag stage 1 and stage 2: firing circuit control faulty).

A code alone does not prove that the control unit is defective, as connectors, wiring harness or sensors can also be the cause. Have the diagnosis carried out by a specialist workshop.

Ageing of the electronics, moisture at the contacts and voltage problems can also affect a control unit.

What airbag equipment does Xpeng have?

Xpeng's airbag equipment depends on the model, the year of manufacture and the trim level. For binding details, please refer to your vehicle's owner's manual.

Modern electric vehicles generally have front, side and curtain airbags as well as belt pretensioners. Which components are fitted in an individual case may vary by trim level.

All of these components are monitored and triggered by the airbag control unit. If the unit fails, the system as a whole may not deploy as intended in an emergency. An illuminated airbag warning light should therefore not be ignored.

Send the removed control unit to Airbag24, well packed. We test it, repair it and return it by UPS.
