Error code 04C5 indicates a specific electrical fault in the driver-side side‑impact sensor. Specifically, the code points to an open circuit or a short to positive, disrupting signal transmission between the sensor and the airbag control unit. This results in deactivation of the affected airbag circuit and poses a significant safety risk.

Technically, the airbag control unit detects an implausible or missing resistance value from the driver‑side crash sensor. The system interprets this as a critical defect that would prevent proper deployment of the side airbag in the event of a collision.

Due to the safety‑critical nature of this fault, the airbag warning light remains illuminated permanently, and the error is stored in the memory until the root cause is professionally resolved and the fault memory is cleared.
