Error code 100 signifies a specific internal fault within the airbag control unit. This error frequently occurs in Porsche 911 models of the 993 series and points to a hardware issue that compromises the central control function of the safety system, requiring professional repair.
The airbag control unit is the central control module for the entire restraint system. It receives and processes signals from various sensors in the vehicle to ensure proper deployment of airbags and seatbelt pretensioners in the event of a collision.
