What does error code 111100 mean in the airbag control unit?
Error code 111100, often listed as U111100 in diagnostic logs, indicates a critical “function restriction due to missing message.” Specifically, this points to a persistent communication failure, typically originating from the tilt-angle indicator. As a result, the airbag control unit cannot receive safety-critical data and deactivates the system.
The airbag control unit serves as the central control and monitoring hub. It processes signals from all connected sensors and makes split-second decisions on whether to deploy the restraint systems.
When error 111100 occurs, this information flow is disrupted. The fault is usually permanently stored in the fault memory and cannot be cleared, as the underlying communication issue persists. This suggests a deeper problem within the vehicle’s data bus system or directly in the control unit itself.
How do you recognize error 111100?
