What does error code 1211 mean in the airbag control unit?
Error code 1211 indicates a specific short circuit in the circuit of the EIC switch assembly 2 to the battery. This electrical fault interrupts the safety‑critical communication and functionality of the airbag system. The control unit detects this faulty connection and stores the code, triggering an immediate diagnosis and repair.
Technically speaking, this is a clear hardware issue. The control unit’s self‑diagnostic system continuously monitors the electrical circuits of connected components. When a short circuit to the vehicle battery is detected, the system is partially or fully deactivated for safety reasons, and the airbag warning light illuminates.
