What does error code 1C mean in the airbag control unit?
Error code 1C indicates a specific fault in the airbag control unit with part number 1C. Typically, this error points to an internal hardware defect or stored crash data that prevents the system from functioning normally. As a result, the control unit often becomes unresponsive to diagnostic tools.
Technically, this error is a message generated directly by the control unit itself whenever it detects an internal anomaly. This triggers the activation of the airbag warning light, alerting the driver to an issue with the safety system.
The affected control unit—especially the model with part number 1C, such as the one installed in the Porsche 944 Turbo—switches into a safety mode.
