What does error code 32795 indicate in the airbag control unit?
Error code 32795 signifies a serious internal fault in the airbag control unit, particularly affecting Porsche Boxster 986 models. It typically stems from an internal communication failure or a hardware defect, such as an error in the memory module (Internal Module Memory Error). As a result, the airbag system is completely deactivated.
Technically speaking, this error means that the central control unit of the safety system (SRS control unit) cannot successfully complete its self-diagnosis. Internal communication between the processor, the memory chip (e.g., EEPROM), and other critical components on the circuit board is disrupted.
This type of internal defect prevents the control unit from correctly deploying the airbags and seatbelt pretensioners in the event of a crash. Therefore, for safety reasons, the entire system is shut down, and a permanent fault is logged in the fault memory.
How can you recognize error code 32795?

Another clear indication is the persistence of the fault. Even disconnecting the vehicle battery for an extended period or attempting to clear the error with a standard diagnostic tool will prove unsuccessful—the error code is instantly re‑set in the control unit.
As a consequence of this defect, the entire airbag system becomes non‑functional. This affects not only the front and side airbags but also the seatbelt pretensioners and other components of the occupant protection system.
What causes error code 32795?
The main cause of error code 32795 is internal hardware defects on the airbag control unit’s circuit board. Often, memory chips (EEPROM, flash memory) or the processor itself are affected. Defective electronic components such as capacitors or resistors can also trigger this internal fault.
A common source of errors is damaged or corroded circuit boards. Moisture ingress—often due to leaks inside the vehicle—can lead to short circuits and irreparable damage to sensitive electronic components.
