Error code 54_70, often associated with 55_70 or 5E_70, indicates a serious internal fault in the airbag control unit (ACU). The cause is typically a hardware failure on the circuit board, such as defective memory chips (EEPROM/Flash) or short circuits, which prevents the safety system from functioning properly and makes repair unavoidable.
Technically speaking, this error means that the control unit’s self-diagnosis has detected an irreparable condition. Components like the microprocessor or the power supply may be affected, leading to a complete failure of the unit. The device can no longer perform its safety‑critical functions, such as monitoring sensors and deploying airbags.
