Error code 5A_70 signals a serious internal fault within the airbag control unit (ACU) itself. Typically, the cause lies in defective electronic components such as the memory chip, microcontroller, or internal voltage regulators. For safety reasons, the system shuts down, and the airbag warning light remains steadily illuminated.
Technically speaking, this error means that the control unit’s self-diagnosis has detected an anomaly in its own circuitry. The processing of sensor signals and the activation of the igniters can no longer be reliably ensured.
