What does error code 8005 mean in the airbag control unit?
Error code 8005 indicates a specific internal fault or communication issue within the airbag control unit (SRS). This typically points to a hardware failure, where electronic components such as capacitors, resistors, or ICs inside the control unit have failed, preventing the safety system from functioning correctly.
Technically speaking, code 8005 signifies that the control unit’s internal self-diagnosis has detected an anomaly. This could be a problem with internal data processing or a disruption on the communication lines, such as the CAN bus. The control unit may switch into a safety mode, disabling the airbag system to prevent false activations.
The root cause is almost always found on the control unit’s circuit board. Aging of components, thermal stress, or voltage fluctuations can lead to these internal defects, necessitating component-level repairs.
How do you recognize error code 8005?
