What does error code 8057 mean in the airbag control unit?
Error code 8057 indicates a specific memory read error in the airbag control unit. This internal hardware defect is often triggered by voltage fluctuations that compromise data integrity on the memory chips. As a result, the control unit can no longer load its operating software correctly and enters a safety mode, disabling the airbag function.
Technically speaking, this means that during system startup, the microprocessor of the control unit cannot access critical areas of the internal memory. This fault is particularly well-known in the Porsche 911 series 997, causing the module to malfunction and keeping the airbag warning light permanently illuminated.
