What does error code 912 mean in the airbag control unit?
Error code 912 indicates a specific internal fault within the airbag control unit. The cause is often found at the hardware level, such as contact issues with connectors, cables, the coil spring, or internal electronic defects like short circuits that can occur, for example, due to moisture.
The airbag control unit is the central control module of the passive safety system. It processes signals from crash sensors, stores detected faults in its internal fault memory, and is responsible for triggering the airbag modules via an ignition capacitor.
If error 912 occurs, it points to a malfunction in these core functions. The control unit detects an internal defect that compromises the reliable operation of the entire system and alerts you by illuminating the airbag warning light.
How do you recognize error code 912?
