Error code 9120 signifies a serious internal fault in the airbag control unit, specifically associated with part number 9120. The primary causes are electronic component failures, thermal malfunctions, or stored crash data that locks the unit. As a result, the entire airbag system is disabled, and communication with diagnostic testers often becomes impossible.
Error 9120 is not a standardized DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code); rather, it directly refers to the specific part number of the affected airbag control unit. This unit is primarily installed in the Honda Civic EK. Technically, the error indicates a condition where the control unit can no longer perform its safety‑critical functions.
