Error code B000211 indicates a specific hardware fault in the airbag control unit, namely a short circuit in the ignition circuit of stage 2 of the driver’s airbag. This error prevents proper activation of the airbag in the event of a crash and results in a persistent system warning. The root cause lies directly in the electrical circuitry of the control unit or its associated wiring.
Technically speaking, the SRS control unit continuously monitors the resistance of all ignition circuits (squibs). Code B000211 is triggered when the measured resistance in the driver’s airbag circuit (stage 2) falls outside the predefined tolerance range, indicating a short circuit. The system then switches to a safety mode to prevent false activations.
This fault is critical for vehicle safety, as it compromises the functionality of the two-stage driver’s airbag. Immediate diagnosis using appropriate software such as Mercedes Xentry is essential to precisely locate the issue—whether in the control unit itself, the coil spring on the steering wheel, or the external wiring.
How can you recognize error code B000211?
The primary symptom of error code B000211 is the permanently illuminated airbag warning light (SRS symbol) on the instrument cluster.
