What does error code B0006 mean?
Error code B0006 indicates a fault in the airbag control unit, resulting in complete deactivation of the airbag system. Typically, the cause lies either in the internal memory of the control unit (e.g., due to crash data stored after an accident) or in peripheral components such as faulty connectors or sensors.
The airbag control unit, such as the model with part number 56054106AC used in the Chrysler Sebring, continuously monitors all components of the safety system. When code B0006 is set, the system has detected an inconsistency or defect that could compromise the reliable deployment of the airbags. As a safety precaution, the entire system is deactivated.
Technically, this means the control unit enters a locked state. It ignores further signals from the impact sensors and will not deploy the airbags under any circumstances until the fault is resolved and the fault memory is professionally cleared. How can you recognize error code B0006?

What causes error code B0006?

After a collision, the so‑called crash data memory in the control unit is written. This lockout is a manufacturer‑imposed safety feature that directly triggers error code B0006, preventing continued use of a potentially damaged system.
The fault can also occur without an accident. Faulty connectors, especially in vehicles like three‑door models with movable seats, may develop loose connections due to constant stress. Similarly, water ingress can cause corrosion on the circuit boards and contacts of the control unit, disrupting its functionality.
A defect in one of the connected sensors or damage to the wiring leading to these components can likewise prompt the control unit to report an internal fault and store code B0006.
