What does error code B01877 mean?
Error code B01877 indicates a critical communication failure between the airbag control unit (SRS) and the TELE AID control unit. This fault points to a breakdown in data exchange, which is essential for the proper functioning of the restraint system. As a result, the airbag system is completely deactivated.
Technically, this error falls under the category of B01XX codes, which signal internal control unit faults or communication issues. When the SRS module can no longer communicate with the TELE AID control unit, the system enters an error state for safety reasons. All safety functions that rely on this data exchange are then no longer guaranteed.
The malfunction prevents status information from being transmitted correctly, leading to a permanent error record in the memory. The control unit detects an inconsistent system condition and disables airbag functionality to avoid false activations.
How do you recognize error B01877?
The symptoms of error B01877 are clear and directly visible to the driver. The main feature is the permanently illuminated or flashing airbag warning light (SRS light) in the instrument cluster. Additionally, it is often impossible to communicate with the airbag control unit using a diagnostic tool or to clear the error code.
