What does error code B0941 indicate in the airbag control unit?
Error code B0941 indicates a critical internal hardware fault in the airbag control unit, typically occurring in the second-generation Honda Fit. The cause is usually defective electronic components on the circuit board, such as memory chips (Flash EEPROM), capacitors, or resistors. This error results in the permanent activation of the airbag warning light and blocks diagnostic communication, preventing simple clearing of the fault memory.
Technically speaking, B0941 means that the control unit’s internal self-diagnosis has detected an irreparable defect in its own circuitry. The system classifies this condition as safety-critical, deactivates the airbag functions, and keeps the warning light illuminated to alert the driver.
The defect lies directly on the module’s printed circuit board. Components like the Flash EEPROM memory—where important operating data and crash events are stored—can fail due to aging or voltage spikes.
