What does error code B1099 mean in the airbag control unit?
Error code B1099 indicates a critical electrical fault directly within the airbag control unit’s electronics. Typically, this is an internal short circuit or a malfunction on the circuit board that immediately compromises the vehicle’s safety function and requires professional repair.
Technically, the control unit detects an irregularity in its own circuits through self-diagnosis. This error is not caused by external components such as sensors or wiring but rather by an issue inside the module itself. As a result, the system’s integrity can no longer be guaranteed.
Specifically, components like protective resistors, the microcontroller, or internal fuses on the circuit board may be defective. The control unit then switches to a safety mode to prevent erroneous airbag deployment, which also means there will be no protection in the event of a crash.
