What does error code B1156/15 mean in the airbag control unit?
The error code B1156/15 indicates a specific hardware fault in the safety system. It points to an open circuit in the wiring of sensor A53, which controls the driver-side side airbag, or in its power supply line. The control unit detects an abnormal resistance value, resulting in the deactivation of the affected airbag.
Technically speaking, the airbag control unit continuously monitors the electrical resistances of all connected components, including igniters and sensors. If a resistance reading is detected in the circuit of sensor A53 that falls outside the defined tolerance range—typically due to a broken wire or a loose connector—the error code B1156/15 is stored in the fault memory.
