What does error code B1160 mean?

Error code B1160 indicates a critical hardware or software fault directly within the airbag control unit (ACU). Often displayed as “Critical failure of the internal electronics,” it points to defective internal components such as processors, memory chips, or voltage regulators. The control unit can no longer guarantee its safety functions and permanently illuminates the airbag warning light.

This diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is universal and signals a severe malfunction in the internal electronics. During its self-test, the control unit detects that one or more of its core components are no longer functioning properly. As a precaution, the entire airbag system is deactivated to prevent unintended deployment.
