What does error code B1319 mean?
Error code B1319 indicates a fault in the driver’s door detection circuit. It is a specific electrical issue typically caused by a defective door contact switch, a broken wire, or a faulty connector. As a result, the airbag control unit cannot correctly process critical status information, compromising system safety.
Technically speaking, this error code points to an interruption or an implausible value in the signal path that reports the driver’s door status to the airbag control unit. This information is crucial for the deployment strategy of the restraint systems. The system classifies the condition as unsafe and activates the warning light as a precautionary measure.
In some cases, error B1319 may also indicate problems within the vehicle’s communication network or in adjacent modules such as the Body Control Module (BCM). Therefore, a thorough inspection of the entire signal chain—including wiring and associated control units—is essential for accurate diagnosis.
How do you recognize error B1319?
The primary symptom of error code B1319 is a permanently illuminated airbag warning light on the instrument cluster. This indicates a malfunction in the safety system. Typically, there are no other noticeable impairments during normal driving, but full functionality of the airbag system is no longer guaranteed.
The airbag indicator remains lit after starting the vehicle and does not extinguish as it normally would. Occasional flashing is rare with this fault pattern, as it usually involves a persistent electrical defect.
When reading the fault memory with an appropriate diagnostic tool, code B1319 will be stored in the airbag control unit. Attempts to clear the error without addressing the root cause will fail; the fault and warning light reappear immediately.
What causes B1319?
The main cause of B1319 is an electrical open circuit or short circuit in the driver’s door detection circuit. Common sources of failure include a defective door contact switch, cable breaks at the door seal due to constant movement, corroded connectors, or, more rarely, an issue in the Body Control Module (BCM).
The wiring harness inside the rubber grommet between the driver’s door and the A-pillar is particularly vulnerable. Over time, the continuous mechanical stress from opening and closing the door often leads to cable breaks that disrupt the signal flow.
The door contact switch itself can also fail as a sensor. Corrosion caused by moisture or internal wear are the most frequent reasons. Poor connections at the switch or at the control unit can likewise result in this fault pattern.
In addition to B1319, other error codes may point to issues within the airbag system and require similar repair procedures. Examples include B1111 for an internal control unit fault or B1B02 for an interruption in the driver’s airbag ignition circuit.
On which models does error B1319 occur?
Error code B1319 occurs especially in certain Chrysler models. Although the code can appear across manufacturers, in our repair practice it is most commonly associated with the Chrysler 300 SRT of the LD series. However, a precise diagnosis is advisable for any vehicle exhibiting corresponding symptoms.

How is error B1319 professionally repaired?

After sending the unit to Airbag24, a meticulous analysis is performed at the electronic level. Defective components are expertly repaired via soldering or replaced. The unit is then returned to factory condition and undergoes a comprehensive functional test.
Following reinstallation of the repaired control unit into the vehicle, the fault memory must be cleared using an appropriate diagnostic tool. Only then will the airbag warning light be permanently deactivated. We provide a 12-month warranty on all repairs.
