What does error code B134800 mean in the airbag control unit?
Error code B134800 indicates a specific electrical fault: a short circuit to ground in the ignition circuit of the driver’s airbag, stage 1. The airbag control unit recognizes this ground short as a critical safety issue, as proper deployment of the airbag can no longer be guaranteed, and consequently activates the airbag warning light permanently.
Technically speaking, this means that the power-carrying wire leading to the driver’s airbag igniter has an unintended connection to the vehicle chassis (ground). The control unit continuously measures the resistance of the ignition circuits. If this value deviates significantly from the specified threshold—as is the case with a short circuit—the B134800 error is stored, and the system is deactivated for safety reasons.
