What does error code B1413-00 mean?
Error code B1413-00 indicates that crash data has been permanently stored in the airbag control unit’s memory. This condition occurs after an accident or a severe impact, causing the control unit to lock itself for safety reasons. All relevant crash data is recorded, preventing reactivation of the airbag system until the data is professionally erased.
The airbag control unit is the central control module of the passive safety system. Its primary function is to process signals from crash sensors to detect a collision and determine the optimal timing for deploying the airbags. An integrated ignition capacitor ensures power supply independent of the vehicle battery.
An important feature is assessing crash severity on a scale from 0 to 3. In cases of low severity (level 0), the impact is registered and logged, but the airbags are not deployed. Even in such situations, error code B1413-00 is set, and the warning light illuminates.

The airbag warning light is the most obvious sign. It remains lit after starting the vehicle, indicating that the entire airbag system is disabled and will not function in the event of another accident.
A diagnosis at a workshop reveals that error code B1413-00 is marked as permanent or non‑erasable. Standard attempts to clear it via the OBD interface fail because the data is deeply embedded in the control unit’s memory.
Furthermore, additional fault messages may be stored, pointing to communication issues or problems with the control unit’s coding. These are direct consequences of the locked state the module enters following a crash.
What causes B1413-00?
The sole and direct cause of error code B1413-00 is the registration of a crash event by the airbag control unit, which occurs after a severe impact.
