What does error code B1445 indicate in the airbag control unit?
Error code B1445 identifies a specific hardware or electronic fault within the airbag control unit. This error is permanently stored in the fault memory and signals that, due to an internal malfunction, the system can no longer reliably perform its safety-critical functions—such as processing signals from crash sensors or supplying power to the ignition circuit. Professional repair is essential to restore vehicle safety.
The airbag control unit serves as the central brain of the passive safety system. Its responsibilities include processing signals from crash sensors, determining the optimal ignition timing for the airbags, and providing the necessary energy via an internal ignition capacitor that operates independently of the vehicle battery.
In addition, the control unit continuously performs self-diagnosis of the entire system. If it detects an anomaly such as error B1445, the system is deactivated for safety reasons, and the airbag warning light illuminates to alert the driver.
How do you recognize error code B1445?
The most obvious symptom of error code B1445 is the persistently illuminated airbag warning light on the instrument panel, which does not turn off after starting the vehicle. Consequently, the vehicle will fail the mandatory technical inspection (HU).
