Technically speaking, B14XX means that the control unit’s internal self-diagnosis has detected a critical fault. This could involve a damaged circuit board, a defective memory chip (EEPROM/Flash), a faulty microprocessor, or internal short circuits. As a result, the control unit can no longer guarantee its safety‑related functions and activates the airbag warning light as a warning to the driver.

In particular, for Nissan and Infiniti vehicles, this error code is often associated with stored accident or crash data. After a collision, the control unit locks down to prevent unintended deployment.
