Error code B1826 indicates a problem in the airbag input circuit of the control unit. This suggests faulty signal processing from one of the connected sensors or actuators. The control unit detects that an input value is outside the defined tolerance—often exceeding an upper limit—and subsequently sets this error code.

The airbag control unit is the central processing unit of the passive safety system. It continuously collects and analyzes data from various sensors, such as acceleration, seat‑occupancy, and seatbelt‑pretensioner sensors. Based on this information, it decides within milliseconds whether to deploy the airbags and activate the seatbelt pretensioners.
