What does error code B1C2E mean in the airbag control unit?
Error code B1C2E is a specific diagnostic trouble code (DTC) indicating a problem with the airbag control unit (SRS module). It signals an issue ranging from loose connectors and faulty sensors to internal hardware malfunctions or crash data stored after an accident. In this state, the system is not operational.
This code is read via the on-board diagnostics (OBD2) and indicates that a safety‑related component of the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) is not functioning correctly. The control unit detects a deviation from expected values or an internal malfunction and stores B1C2E as an active fault, resulting in the deactivation of the entire airbag system.
What symptoms indicate error code B1C2E?
The most obvious sign of error code B1C2E is the permanently illuminated airbag warning light on the instrument panel. This warning alerts the driver that the airbag system is disabled and will not deploy in the event of a crash, posing a significant safety risk.
