What does error code B200000 mean in the airbag control unit?
Error code B200000 indicates a critical internal fault in the airbag control unit (ACU). In most cases, the cause is a hardware defect on the circuit board, such as faulty components, damaged memory chips (EEPROM), or a checksum error. The control unit then places the airbag system into a safety mode that cannot be reset, keeping the airbag warning light permanently illuminated.
Technically speaking, this error means that the control unit’s self-diagnosis has detected an internal anomaly that no longer ensures the proper functioning of the airbags and seatbelt pretensioners. The error is stored in the fault memory as “non‑erasable,” meaning that simply clearing it with a diagnostic tool will not work without physically repairing the hardware or reprogramming the internal data.
This condition results in the complete deactivation of the passive safety system to prevent unintended airbag deployment. Therefore, error code B200000 is classified as extremely safety‑critical.
