Error code B2208 indicates a critical fault in the communication link between the airbag control unit and its associated display or switch module. The cause is usually an interruption in the CAN‑bus data stream, triggered by defective wiring, connectors, or electronic components such as the CAN transceiver within the control unit itself.

Technically speaking, this means that the airbag control unit (SRS module) can no longer receive valid signals from, or send signals to, the display and switch module. These modules are interconnected via the CAN bus, an in‑vehicle data network.
