What does error code B2293 (30) mean?
Error code B2293 (30) indicates a critical electrical fault: a short circuit to the positive terminal (battery) in the ignition circuit of the driver’s front airbag’s first stage. The airbag control unit detects this faulty connection, logs the error, and deactivates the affected airbag for safety reasons, which is indicated by the illuminated warning light.
Technically speaking, the control unit measures an unauthorized and persistent voltage at the output for the airbag igniter. This condition prevents proper operation in the event of a crash and poses a risk of malfunction, prompting the system to place the affected ignition circuit into a safe, inactive state.
The immediate consequence is that the driver’s airbag will not deploy because the activation signal is interrupted. The airbag warning light remains continuously illuminated to clearly alert the driver to this safety-critical condition.

What causes error code B2293 (30)?
The root cause of B2293 (30) is always a physical short circuit to the vehicle’s onboard voltage. This may occur externally in the vehicle wiring, at connectors, or in the coil spring, or—more commonly—it results from an internal hardware defect within the airbag control unit’s circuit board itself.
External sources of failure include damaged cable insulation, corroded or moisture‑damaged connectors leading to the driver’s airbag, or a defective coil spring in the steering wheel. These components can develop a short circuit due to mechanical wear, aging, or water ingress.
