What does error code B2332 in the airbag control unit indicate?
The B2332 error code in Saab vehicles points to a specific electrical fault: a short circuit in the driver’s airbag circuit. This results in an abnormally low resistance, which the control unit interprets as a critical failure, prompting the entire safety system (SRS) to deactivate to prevent false activations.
Technically, the airbag control unit continuously monitors the resistance of the igniters in the airbag modules. If this value falls below a defined threshold, the system registers a short circuit. This condition is comparable to error code B1333, which also indicates excessively low resistance.
As a direct consequence, the airbag warning light illuminates and the B2332 error code is stored in memory. The system remains in this inactive state until the cause of the short circuit is resolved and the fault memory has been successfully cleared.
How can you recognize error B2332?
The primary and unmistakable symptom of error B2332 is the permanently or intermittently illuminated airbag warning light (SRS symbol) on the instrument cluster. Additionally, the airbag system is completely disabled, and diagnostic tools may display communication errors or persistent faults and crash data stored in the control unit.
The active SRS warning light is the control unit’s direct signal to the driver that there is a malfunction in the safety system. Unlike usual, it does not extinguish after a few seconds upon starting the vehicle but remains lit continuously.
When diagnosing via the OBD interface, it often becomes apparent that error B2332 cannot be cleared—even if external wiring issues have already been fixed. This frequently indicates that the control unit has stored internal crash data or has locked itself out.
What causes B2332?
The main cause of error code B2332 is a short circuit in the driver’s airbag circuit. This can result from internal defects within the control unit itself—such as voltage problems—or from external factors like crushed cables, faulty connectors, or damaged sensors. Following a collision, the control unit may also become locked due to stored crash data.
The most common external cause involves mechanical damage to the wiring. This includes crushed cables, corroded or loose connectors—especially under the seats—as well as defects in the seat occupancy mat or the seatbelt buckle.
Internally, the fault may arise from defective components on the circuit board or software errors that lead to incorrect interpretation of resistance values. Insufficient power supply to the unit, similar to error 532, can also serve as a source of trouble.
After an airbag deployment, the control unit stores so‑called crash data and disables itself. This situation makes repair unavoidable, as the fault memory can no longer be cleared through conventional methods.
In some cases, B2332 occurs alongside other error codes, such as B103B (igniter circuit), B240 (general control unit defect), or the previously mentioned error 532 (power supply), all of which must be considered during diagnosis.

Error code B2332 is characteristic of specific vehicle models manufactured by Saab. Primarily affected are the 900, 9000 series, and various variants of the 9-3 lineup. Repairing this issue for these models is a proven and cost-effective solution.
