What does error code B2442 indicate in the airbag control unit?
Error code B2442 signals a specific, internal hardware fault within the airbag control unit, particularly installed in Saab models. This error impairs the unit’s self‑diagnostic function and results in the deactivation of the entire airbag system, usually due to stored crash data or a defect in internal electronic components.
Technically speaking, this means that the SRS module’s internal diagnostics have detected an irreparable condition in its own circuitry or memory modules. For safety reasons, the control unit shuts down to prevent unintended airbag deployment.
This condition is comparable to other critical internal error codes such as B24 or B42, which also point to defects that cannot be resolved simply by clearing the fault memory.
