What does error code B2880 indicate in the airbag control unit?
Error code B2880 points to an internal fault in the airbag control unit, a central safety system of the vehicle. This error, which occurs particularly in Saab models, signals that the control unit can no longer reliably perform its monitoring and activation functions, necessitating professional diagnosis and repair to restore system safety.
The airbag control unit is the command center of the passive safety system. Its primary task is to continuously evaluate signals from acceleration and pressure sensors. In the event of a collision, it decides within milliseconds whether and which restraint systems—such as airbags or seatbelt pretensioners—should be deployed.
