What does error code B2895 indicate in the airbag control unit?
Error code B2895 is a standardized diagnostic trouble code (DTC) that points to a specific issue within the airbag system. The control unit detects an anomaly, activates the airbag warning light, and stores this code to enable targeted troubleshooting at the workshop. A professional diagnosis is required to identify the exact source of the fault.
The airbag control unit is the central control module of the passive safety system. It continuously processes signals from various sensors in the vehicle to ensure proper deployment of airbags and seatbelt pretensioners in the event of a crash.
When an error such as B2895 occurs, the system’s self-diagnosis kicks in. The control unit independently detects the fault, stores the code in its fault memory, and illuminates the airbag warning light. This alerts the driver that the system is not functioning properly and may fail to deploy in the event of a collision.
How can you recognize error B2895?

Mechanical and connection-related problems are typical sources of failure. Particularly in three-door vehicles, the airbag connectors beneath the seats experience significant wear from constant movement back and forth, leading to loose contacts. Similarly, the coil spring (slip ring) is a critical component that wears out with every steering motion.
Electronic faults within the control unit itself or in peripheral components are also widespread. Water ingress can cause short circuits on the circuit board, while damaged cables or erroneous sensor data may trigger the airbag warning light and store code B2895.
