What does error code B2D97 mean?
Error code B2D97 indicates a specific malfunction of the airbag control unit N2/7, also known as the Airbag Restraint Control Unit. The diagnosis directly points to an internal hardware or software fault within the ECU itself. This is not a problem with external components such as sensors or wiring.
Technically speaking, this means that a component on the control unit’s circuit board is defective, or the device’s software has encountered a critical error. The system detects this internal fault and stores error code B2D97 to signal reduced functional safety of the airbag system. In other words, the control unit’s self-diagnosis has identified an irreparable internal condition.
How can you recognize error B2D97?
The symptoms of error B2D97 are clear and immediately visible to the driver. The main feature is the permanently illuminated airbag warning light in the instrument cluster.
