Error code B54-4x indicates a locked or deactivated airbag control unit. The primary cause is crash data stored in the internal memory after an accident, which blocks further system operation for safety reasons. Technically, this means the control unit has recorded a critical, non‑erasable fault entry in its memory chip (EEPROM). This entry puts the entire unit into a safety mode. Even if all external components, such as airbags or seatbelt pretensioners, are replaced after an accident, the control unit remains inoperative without a professional reset.
