What does error code B8059 mean in the airbag control unit?
Error code B8059 indicates a critical communication failure between the airbag control unit and its connected sensors. The root causes are typically internal hardware defects, damage from overvoltage, or a blockage caused by stored crash data after an accident. As a result, the control unit can no longer guarantee system integrity and activates the warning light for safety reasons.
Technically, the control unit interrupts communication with the sensors because it can no longer reliably validate their status. This condition results in a persistent fault that cannot be resolved simply by clearing the fault memory, as the underlying cause—whether a hardware defect or a data lock—remains unresolved.
This error is typical of the airbag control unit with part number B8059, which was primarily installed in the Porsche 911 of the 997 series. It points to a deep-seated issue requiring electronic-level repair.
How do you recognize error B8059?
