Error code C15100 indicates a complete loss of communication with the airbag control unit. This means that other vehicle control units can no longer establish a connection via the CAN bus. The root cause is usually an internal hardware defect within the airbag control unit itself, which disables its communication capabilities and renders it inaccessible to diagnostic tools.

Technically speaking, the control unit is no longer reachable on the vehicle’s internal data bus (CAN bus). It neither sends nor receives signals, which the central gateway interprets as a total failure. As a result, the system illuminates the airbag warning light to inform the driver of the missing protective function.

This communication error is often accompanied by another error code: C45200, which directly points to a defective airbag control unit. The combination of both codes is a clear indication of an internal electronic fault in the device.
