What does error code DF004 mean in the airbag control unit?

Error code DF004 reports a fault in the ignition circuit of the passenger front airbag, that is, an open circuit or a short circuit in this circuit. The ignition circuit belongs to the restraint system (SRS), and the airbag control unit stores the fault and switches on the airbag warning light as soon as the fault in the ignition circuit is detected.

The ignition circuit is the circuit through which the airbag control unit can trigger the passenger front airbag. If this circuit is open or short-circuited, the control unit reports the fault.
