What does error code DTC 5780 mean?
Error code DTC 5780 indicates a serious internal hardware fault in the airbag control unit. Through its self-diagnostic system, the unit detects a malfunction in its own electronics, such as microcontrollers or memory modules. As a result, for safety reasons, the entire airbag system is deactivated, and the airbag warning light illuminates.
The airbag control unit is the central control module for all restraint systems. It processes signals from acceleration sensors and decides within milliseconds whether to deploy airbags and pretensioners.
If an internal fault like DTC 5780 occurs, the control unit can no longer guarantee its safety-critical functions. To prevent unintended deployment or failure in an emergency, it shuts itself down and stores the error code, which can only be resolved through repair or replacement.
