What does error code P3107/213 mean?
Error code P3107/213 indicates a complete communication failure with the airbag control unit (Airbag System Control Module). This means that other vehicle control units, such as the engine or power management control unit, can no longer receive data from the airbag module. The cause is often a physical break in the data line (CAN bus), a short circuit to ground, or an internal hardware defect within the control unit itself.
Technically speaking, the on-board diagnostic system (OBD2) detects that the expected signals from the airbag control unit are missing. For safety reasons, this condition results in the immediate deactivation of the entire restraint system, as proper functioning of the airbags and seatbelt pretensioners can no longer be guaranteed. The control unit is responsible for the central control and monitoring of all safety‑related components.
In modern vehicles, communication typically occurs via the CAN bus. An error like P3107/213 can be triggered by damaged cables, corroded connectors, or an incorrect voltage supply to the module.
